Queensbridge Square, Southbank, Melbourne

Southbank is the area that stretches along the southern bank of the Yarra River. It starts the moment you cross Princes Bridge, turn left and walk down the steps to the river. Southbank was once an old and neglected area, mostly industrial, which has recently been rejuvenated as the heartbeat of the central city area. This has been done by using the Yarra River as a central feature and by introducing entertainment facilities along the river bank.

The Southbank Promenade runs from Princes Bridge along to Queens Bridge Street and Queens Bridge which also incorporates Queensbridge Square. Continuing to the west of the Bridge is "Yarra Promenade", which runs underneath Kings Way and Kings Bridge to Clarendon Street, Spencer Street Bridge including Crown Entertainment Complex and promenade restaurants.

How To Get There

On Foot: South over the Princess Bridge or pedestrian footbridge across the Yarra River.

Train: Flinders Street Station, then across the Princess Bridge or pedestrian footbridge.
